Medical Assistant

Course Description

Medical Assistants play an important role in the health care team by providing direct patient care as well as performing both administrative and clinical procedures. They promote health awareness by educating their patients, the patient’s family, and their community. Medical Assistants work under the supervision of the physician, physician-assigned supervisor, or provider-employer. They provide a variety of services to the patient in clinics, physicians’ offices, and other health care settings. 


With experience, Medical Assistants can be promoted to a supervisory position such as Clinical Supervisor or Office Manager. Health Professionals Institute will provide, prepare, and assist its students to become exemplary Medical Assistants to supply qualified graduates for the medical community workforce. Program graduates are eligible to sit for the Medical Assistant (MA) certification exam.


This Medical Assistant Program is offered in an intense 9-month course. This course includes 800 total hours of training including 352 hours of classroom time, 248 hours of laboratory simulation, and 200 hours of externship.  


Expected schedule for the externship is Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm.

Admissions Requirements

  • Student must be at least 18 years old 
  • Have High School Diploma, GED or Higher Education equivalency 
  • US students must pass the entrance exam with 75% passing grade. Exam may be retaken once free of charge.
  • Foreign students must pass CELSA Test with 75% passing grade (if applicable). Test may be retaken free of charge.
  • Complete a background inquiry form. Any record of crimes against persons or financial exploitation will prevent an individual from working in this field.
  • Provide documentation of a completed 2 steps tuberculosis test. If positive, must get a chest x-ray. 
  • If student unable to obtain Mantoux T.B test, QuantiFeron blood test will be accepted.
  • Clinical facilities may require additional information, such as MMR and Hepatitis B vaccine.

Costs

The program cost is $13,000. 

Short-term and long-term financing is available for those in need. 

We also accept G.I. Bill for military personnel.
