An Electrocardiogram (ECG) Technician, also known as a Cardiographic technician or EKG/ECG technician, is vital in today’s healthcare industry. As an ECG technician, you are responsible for performing diagnostic tests related to patients’ heart rhythm and the electrical activity of a heartbeat. You will work directly with patients in a variety of circumstances.
Duties as an ECG technician include:
ECG technicians must have strong analytical skills to interpret test results and a compassionate demeanor with patients who view electrocardiograms as stressful procedures.

After graduation, you will be ready to take the Certified EKG Technician (CET) exam.
HPI’s ECG technician program accepts a maximum of 30 students every quarter. In addition to an interview with our admissions Director, applicants must meet the following Criteria:
Start Date: December 2nd to January 24th, 2025
Theory: Monday through Wednesday (6pm to 10pm)
Lab Time: Thursday and Friday (4pm to 10pm)
Externship/Clinicals (160 hours)
Theory + Lab (In Person) (140 hours)

This is a 6-week program that prepares students to work as an entry level ECG Technician in a variety of settings including hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and many more.
This program includes 183 hours of training including 105 hours of classroom time, 38 hours of laboratory and 40 hours of externship and students will be able to take the exam for certification.
